Meet the Superintendent

Superintendent Martha Bruckner, PhD                            712-328-6418

Dr. Martha Bruckner was appointed Superintendent of Schools in Council Bluffs in July of 2007. Prior to that, she served as the Associate Superintendent for Educational Services in the Millard Public Schools in Omaha, Nebraska. She has been a teacher, assistant principal, district strategic planning coordinator, high school principal and member of the Board of Education in the Ralston (Nebraska) Public School District and holds experience as a past professor and chairperson of Educational Administration and Supervision at the University of Nebraska at Omaha.

Dr. Bruckner earned her Ph.D. in Curriculum, Instruction and Administration from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. Her experience as a leader in education includes service as president of the Board of Directors for the International Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD) and the Nebraska Schoolmasters Club.

She has been recognized for her contributions to education including being the recipient of the Al Kilgore Award of Excellence for Leadership in Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment in Nebraska and the University of Nebraska at Lincoln Teachers College Walter K. Beggs Award for Outstanding Service to Education. In service to the community, she is currently a TeamMates mentor, a member of the Council Bluffs Rotary and is active in her church.
